Dietary fibre is an important component of gastrointestinal health, yet many people consume less than the recommended amount through food alone. Soluble fibre resists digestion in the upper gastrointestinal tract and can be fermented by beneficial bacteria in the gut.
Sunfiber® is derived from guar gum and undergoes controlled hydrolysis, which breaks it into smaller units and significantly reduces its viscosity while preserving its fibre content. This produces a fibre that dissolves easily and can be incorporated into beverages without substantially changing their flavour or texture.
Compared with some rapidly fermented prebiotic fibres, partially hydrolyzed guar gum is fermented more gradually in the intestinal tract. This contributes to its reputation as a well-tolerated soluble fibre.
