Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) are debilitating conditions that severely impact quality of life. While they are distinct and separate diagnoses, FMS and CFS have many common and overlapping symptoms including muscle fatigue, pains, stiffness and aching, low mood and generalized fatigue.

Malate, also known as malic acid, is actually a substrate found in the mitochondria that is used to create ATP. As such, malic acid works synergistically with magnesium to improve energy and reduce pain. In fact, placebo controlled and open-label trials have confirmed that magnesium malate can reduce pain and tenderness in fibromyalgia sufferers. Malic acid is also an effective chelator of aluminum.
