WHAT IT IS / WHAT IT DOES

Kwellada P Lotion is a topical scabicide containing 5% permethrin, a synthetic pyrethroid that works by paralyzing and killing scabies mites and their eggs. It is indicated for the treatment of scabies infestations and is typically effective after a single application, although a second treatment may be recommended if live mites or new lesions are present 7 to 10 days later.

While the mites are eliminated shortly after treatment, itching may continue for 2 to 4 weeks as the skin heals. This does not necessarily indicate treatment failure.

The odourless, non-greasy lotion is easy to apply and rinse off, helping you return to your normal routine as quickly as possible.

MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS

RECOMMENDED DIRECTIONS

Shake well before use.

1. Ensure the skin is clean, dry, and cool before application.
2. Massage a generous amount of lotion over the entire body from the neck to the soles of the feet, paying particular attention to:

    

   • Between the fingers and toes

   • Under fingernails and toenails

   • Wrists

   • Armpits

   • Genital area

   • Buttocks

3. Put on clean clothing after application.
4. Leave the lotion on for 12 to 14 hours.
5. Wash thoroughly using a gentle, non-irritating cleanser.
6. Put on clean clothing after washing.
7. If live mites or new skin lesions appear 7–10 days after the first treatment, a second application may be required.

Important:

• Do not apply to the face.

• Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and lips.

• Do not apply to broken, cut, or scratched skin.

• If hands are washed within 8 hours of application, reapply lotion to the hands.

• To help prevent reinfestation, wash clothing, bedding, and towels used within the previous 2 days in hot water and dry using a hot dryer cycle for at least 20–30 minutes or have them dry-cleaned. Thoroughly vacuum living areas.

CAUTIONS

• Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and lips. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

• If accidentally swallowed, contact a healthcare professional or Poison Control Centre immediately.

• Itching may continue for several weeks after successful treatment and does not necessarily indicate treatment failure. Repeat treatment only if live mites or new lesions develop.

• Consult a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

• Seniors may absorb more medication through the skin and should consult a healthcare professional before use.

• Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including topical corticosteroids, as interactions may occur.

• Store at 15°C to 30°C.
