The pain reliever in Advil is Ibuprofen, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that when taken as directed is a safe and effective pain reliever and fever reducer.

Children’s Advil Dye-Free Suspension cautions: Do not use in children under 6 months unless directed by a doctor; dose strictly by weight to avoid overdose; avoid if allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin, other NSAIDs, or any ingredients; consult a doctor before use if child has asthma (especially aspirin-sensitive), stomach ulcers or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, dehydration, or diabetes (if sugar-containing); risk of stomach bleeding increases with history of ulcers, use of NSAIDs, steroids, or blood thinners; do not use for fever >3 days or pain >5 days unless directed; stop and seek medical help for allergic reactions (hives, swelling, trouble breathing), stomach bleeding signs (vomiting blood, black stools, severe pain), liver issues (yellow skin/eyes), or kidney issues (reduced urination); check with a doctor or pharmacist before combining with other NSAIDs, blood thinners, steroids, certain blood pressure drugs, or diuretics; store at room temperature, avoid freezing, keep tightly closed, and always use the provided measuring device.
