From the very beginnings of homeopathy, the plant, animal, and mineral substances (called “strains”) at the origin of these medicines were of vital importance. Plants
Boiron sources more than 1,000 botanical substances, including Arnica montana, Calendula officinalis, and Chamomilla, from botanists and harvesters who take care to preserve the plants used and the land on which they grow. Following strict environmental protection procedures, many of these are hand-picked whole in their pristine natural habitats and processed fresh, not dried. Cultivation occurs in areas untouched by pesticides or fertilizers, far from polluted industrial or urban zones.
Animals
Some medicines are derived from small animals, as well as from organotherapeutic sources. Boiron works with specialized companies to supply the materials and certify their quality, zoological identification, origin, and ethical method of procurement.
Minerals
Boiron’s chemical and mineral substances are acquired from natural sources, such as oyster shells (Calcarea carbonica), or pharmaceutical-grade active ingredients.
