Why do you include iron in Women Over 40 One Daily?

We need iron in our diet throughout all stages of life – it is an essential mineral without which we would not be able to live. In fact, shortage of iron in the diet is a common cause of low energy levels at all ages. Women Over 40 One Daily contains a moderate amount of iron (50% of the RDA) in a gentle FoodState form. This is a non-binding form of iron – easy to digest and assimilate. While post-menopausal women have a lesser requirement for iron than do menstruating women, many women in their 40’s are still experiencing monthly menstruation. For those who would rather have an iron-free formulation, we recommend our Multi for Women 55+ formula, which is iron-free.

MegaFood Blood Builder delivers 26 mg of elemental iron per serving – 144% of the RDA – for those for whom additional iron would be beneficial.

Why is there a warning to consult a health care practitioner if using Women Over 40 One Daily over 30 days?

This warning is required by Health Canada for Canadian labels due to the presence of Eleuthero Root in the Nourishing Food & Herb Blend. However, unless you have a medical condition that you are monitoring with your practitioner, this gentle tonic herb, used traditionally for many years, should not cause any health concerns. If you do have concerns, it is best to consult with your health care practitioner for your individual needs.

Do I need extra calcium and magnesium with this multi?

Calcium and Magnesium would be a good addition to this multi – taken separately at bedtime not to interfere with the absorption of the other minerals in the formula. We would suggest the MegaFood Calcium, Magnesium & Potassium formula.

Can I take this multi on an empty stomach?

As a food-based multivitamin supplement, the tablet can be well tolerated on an empty stomach, however it is recommended to be taken alongside a meal.
